Pathfinding AI Specialist (Unity)

Do you get energized by creating smart systems, optimizing agent behavior, and solving complex navigation challenges? At Flashgroup, you will help shape the intelligence behind VR training simulations, ensuring that virtual characters move naturally, respond realistically, and create immersive, high-stakes emergency scenarios.

What you will be doing

  • Designing and implementing pathfinding and navigation systems within Unity. 
  • Developing NPC/agent behavior for emergency response VR simulations. 
  • Creating and optimizing navigation meshes, dynamic obstacles, and movement logic. 
  • Working with algorithms such as A*, NavMesh generation, steering behaviors, and crowd simulation techniques. 
  • Profiling and optimizing AI performance to ensure stability across VR platforms. 
  • Collaborating closely with developers, designers, and 3D artists to integrate AI systems into gameplay and simulation features. 
  • Implementing tools to visualize, debug, and adjust AI behavior. 
  • Documenting systems, logic flows, and AI architecture for internal use. 
  • Stay up to date with advances in game AI, navigation systems, and Unity technologies. 

What we are looking for

Required:

  • 3+ years of experience in game AI or technical gameplay programming. 
  • Strong proficiency with Unity (C#), including AI and navigation features. 
  • Solid understanding of pathfinding algorithms and real-time navigation systems. 
  • Experience working with NavMesh, dynamic pathfinding, and agent steering. 
  • Good problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills. 
  • Clear and structured communication skills. 
  • Ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team. 

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with advanced AI techniques (behavior trees, GOAP, utility AI). 
  • Knowledge of multi-agent systems or crowd simulation. 
  • Understanding of performance optimization for VR. 
  • Experience developing AI tools, editors, or visualization systems in Unity. 
  • Background in simulations, training tools, or emergency-response scenarios. 
  • Familiarity with movement prediction, physics-based navigation, or ML approaches.
